FY2024 BRI Endowed Research Branch Activity Report Meeting Held
The 2024 activity report meeting of the Advanced Treatment of Neurological Diseases Branch (BRI Endowed Research Branch), a collaborative initiative between Niigata University and the NSG Group, was held on May 19, 2025, at Hotel ItaliaKen in Chuo-ku, Niigata. The meeting highlighted research achievements from April 1, 2024, and presented plans for upcoming activities and projects in the next fiscal year.
The session was chaired by BRI Deputy Director Prof Hideaki Matsui and opened with remarks from NSG Group Chairman Mr Hiromu Ikeda and BRI Director Prof Osamu Onodera. Prof Makoto Oishi (Dept of Neurosurgery) delivered the FY2024 activity report and introduced plans for FY2025. Drs Tomohiko Ishihara and Manabu Natsumeda, who served as specially appointed professors in the branch until the end of April 2025, presented the outcomes of their research. Their successors, Drs Akihiro Sugai and Masayasu Okada, who will officially join the endowed branch on June 1, shared overviews of their respective research. The meeting concluded with closing remarks by Dr Masatoyo Nishizawa, President of Niigata University of Health and Welfare, who expressed high expectations for the branch's continued contributions.
