BRI Professor Hideaki Matsui (Department of Neuroscience of Disease) has been awarded a grant from Takeda Science Foundation to study killifish and uncover novel pathological mechanisms of various intractable diseases.

Takeda Science Foundation was established in 1963 with donations from Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. Prof Matsui has won the highly competitive "program-specific grant" that will provide winners with 35-50 million yen to advance medical science with the collective efforts of research institutes. While 40 applications were submitted in FY2020, Prof Matsui is among the 14 winners.

We are hopeful that the grant will further develop his research on neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease and other age-dependent degeneration.
