BRI scientists give SSH talks to Shibata HS students

On August 30, 2021, two BRI scientists, Drs Takayasu Mikuni (Professor of Cellular Neuropathology) and Nobuyuki Takei (Associate Professor of Brain Tumor Biology) gave online lectures on neuroscience to the students at Shibata High School, one of the Super Science High Schools (SSH) designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

SSH is designed to have a more science-focused curriculum aimed at producing students who are better prepared for a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Drs Mikuni and Takei gave their respective 90 mins talks to 39 first-year students of the science and mathematics course.

We hope that the lectures will inspire students' interests in life science and medicine. We also hope that learning about how scientific research benefits society will help shaping future career choices.
