BRI updates organizational structure
BRI reorganized its structure into three Fields comprising 17 Departments, along with one endowed research branch, effective 1 April, 2026. This reorganization aims to "create a new interdisciplinary academic field that integrates natural and social scientific knowledge of the human brain through data science" and to "secure and cultivate the human resources necessary to sustain this effort over the long term." Additionally, some of the research departments have been renamed.
In line with this change, we have updated the research department introduction pages on the BRI website to reflect the new organizational structure. (The URLs for each department page remain unchanged, and you can continue to access them using the existing links.)
