MEXT Deputy Director-General visits ChBRI

On 13 May, 2026, Mr Takuho Senzaki, Deputy Director-General (Higher Education Bureau) at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, visited Niigata University and toured the Center for Human Brain Research Resource Initiative (ChBRI).

ChBRI is a core facility dedicated to mobilizing brain research resources to advance both research and education. The center aims to promote internationally competitive, cutting-edge research, cultivate outstanding talent, and drive innovation, and it commenced full-scale operations in April 2026.

Professor Akiyoshi Kakita (Dept of Pathology) provided an overview of Brain Research Institute, as well as detailed information on the department's activities and achievements to date. He then guided Mr Senzaki through the ChBRI facilities, where Mr Senzaki was introduced to various equipment, including the freezer room for storing fresh-frozen brains, the stack runner housing optical sections, and the brain cutting room where postmortem brains are dissected.
