BRI scientists give Shibata HS for SSH talks
On August 25, 2025, BRI scientists delivered an outreach lecture at Shibata High School, a designated Super Science High School (SSH).
The SSH program, implemented by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), aims to cultivate internationally competitive talent in science and technology through advanced education in science and mathematics. A total of 230 high schools nationwide have received this designation.
This year, Dr Kosuke Itoh (Associate Professor of Biological Magnetic Resonance) and Dr Takayasu Mikuni (Professor of Cellular Neuropathology) delivered the lectures. Dr Itoh discussed the relationship between music and brain function, while Dr Mikuni focused on memory and also addressed potential career paths.
We hope that these lectures provided students with tangible insights into the fields of life sciences and medicine, helped them appreciate the appeal of science, and will support their future career choices and personal development.
