Consulate-General of China in Niigata officials visit BRI
On May 28, 2024, two officials from the Consulate-General of China in Niigata visited BRI.
Mr Yanqiu Bai and Ms Jianhui Bai visited Prof Takeshi Ikeuchi (Dept of Molecular Genetics), who explained the dementia research being conducted at BRI. The visit included discussions on various topics, such as BRI's research findings, trends in the number of dementia patients in Japan and Asia, and the social costs associated with supporting these patients. The new medication, Lecanemab, used for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, was also discussed, focusing on its efficacy and future challenges.
The visit concluded with a tour of the facility, where the visitors observed the research equipment and the bioresource bank, which stores blood, tissue, and other samples.
BRI aims to further develop brain research through international collaborations.
