BRI lectures held as part of Niigata Junior Doctor Training School

On November 19, 2023, BRI scientists gave lectures at Nakada Memorial Hall as part of the master's program at the Niigata Junior Doctor Training School.

 36 participants attentively engaged with the lectures titled 'The Mechanism of Neurons Perceiving Smell,' delivered by Associate Professor Nanaho Fukuda (Dept of Comparative & Experimental Medicine). Additionally, they attended sessions on 'Let's Look into the Universe Inside the Brain' and 'The Brain, Mind, and Consciousness' presented by Professor Kazuki Tainaka (Dept of System Pathology for Neurological Disorders).

 Enthusiastic participants attentively absorbed the insightful lectures delivered by leading BRI scientists in the field of brain research, displaying a keen eagerness to expand their knowledge.

 We trust that the participants' enthusiasm and creativity will serve as the catalyst for shaping a brighter future.


Niigata Junior Doctor Training School

Niigata University is offering pupils from the 5th grade of elementary school to junior high, "the Junior Doctor Training School", a STEM education program selected by Japan Science and Technology Agency. NU Faculty of Science takes the lead in coordinating the program which aims at nurturing the budding scientists who have strong interests. The program is designed to help develop global approach to issues such as biological diversity, and to appreciate a nature-human relationship to live in good harmony with nature. Niigata University, as a pillar of the program, works with its allied universities (Fukushima University, Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences, and Niigata Institute of Technology), a museum, a botanical garden and a private company in Niigata to provide a region-specific education program.
