Annual World Brain Awareness Week event held at BRI

Brain Awareness Week is the global campaign to foster public enthusiasm and support for brain science. BRI hosted an online event, "Let's examine the human brain and mind" on March 24, 2023. Having welcomed 91 students from Niigata High School, Niigata Daiichi High School, and Niigata Meikun High School, two BRI professors gave lectures to share the wonders of brain science.

Prof Masaki Ueno (Dept of System Pathology for Neurological Disorders) gave a lecture entitled, "Neural networks: seeing, manipulating, and reconstructing", followed by Prof Hitoshi Shimada (Dept of Functional Neurology & Neurosurgery)'s lecture entitled, "Unravelling human intractable diseases by studying fish", both of which attracted students, who seemed intrigued by the world of brain research.

We hope that the lectures inspired students' interests in science of the brain and mind.
