BRI scientists visit Shibata HS for SSH talks

On August 29, 2022, two BRI scientists, Drs Nobuyuki Takei (Associate Professor of Brain Tumor Biology) and Takayasu Mikuni (Professor of Cellular Neuropathology) visited Shibata High School, one of the Super Science High Schools (SSH) designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), to give lectures on neuroscience.

SSH is designed to have a more science-focused curriculum aimed at producing students who are better prepared for a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Drs Takei and Mikuni gave their respective 90 mins talks to 42 first-year students of the science and mathematics course.

We hope that the lectures will inspire students' interests in life science and medicine. We also hope that learning about how scientific research benefits society will help shaping future career choices.
