Professor Onodera receives Niigata Nippo Award

The recipients of the Niigata Nippo Bunka Award, announced in October 17, attended the awarding ceremony on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the Niigata Nippo Media Ship. Dr Osamu Onodera, BRI director and Professor of Neurology, received the award in academic category, in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to elucidating the mechanism of neurological disease and advancing therapeutic strategies.

The Niigata Nippo Bunka Award is given to persons and groups who have demonstrated outstanding performance to contribute to the development of Niigata Prefecture.

Professor Onodera said at the ceremony: "We are profoundly grateful to the people of Niigata for donating invaluable brain tissues for our research. We are welcoming young people to Brain Research Institute, which has the hopes bestowed by the people of Niigata, to work together in the best environment and enhance medical care in Niigata."
