BRI Graduate Scholarship Program

Brain Research Institute is pleased to offer a scholarship to outstanding international students who commit to obtaining a graduate degree at BRI.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an international student entering a graduate program at BRI.

Scholarship Details

  • A monthly stipend of 100,000JPY (maximum) for up to four years. 50,000JPY (maximum) for current BRI graduate students for up to four years from enrollment.
  • Additional financial support in return for research assistant engagement (approx. 300,000-400,000 JPY per year).
  • Tuition exemption (conditions apply.)

How to Apply

  • Eligible students are to get in contact with your potential supervisor at BRI prior to applying.
  • The application must include a completed application form, a CV and a list of achievement and should be sent to BRI administration office.

Selection Process

  • The final decision is made based on the screening at BRI faculty meeting.

Supplemental Notes

  • Recipients are required to submit an annual report at the end of academic year. The report will be assessed at BRI faculty meeting for renewing the scholarship for the following year.
  • Ineligibility

    • Japanese nationals
    • Japanese Govt (MEXT) Scholarship students
    • Other scholarship holders who already receive a monthly stipend of 100,000JPY and more
    • Those who receive other scholarships that restrict holding multiple scholarships
    • Students who are on leave of absence. Recipients who are to take leave of absence from graduate programs will lose eligibility.
