Meeting on the future of Parkinson’s disease treatment

I gave a special lecture, “Molecular pathology of Parkinson’s disease explored in small-fish models,” at the 9th meeting on the future of Parkinson’s disease treatment at Tokyo Garden Terrace Kioi Conference. The meeting was organized around Prof. Nobutaka Hattori of Juntendo, Prof. Ryosuke Takahashi of Kyoto University, and Kyowa Kirin, and was very well attended. Hattori and Takahashi need no introduction as leading figures in Parkinson’s clinic and research; they have always encouraged me, and I am grateful. How to overcome a still poorly understood disease: we have ideas and data, but manpower, funding and time are limited, so we have to choose where the chance is greatest. From there the lab, including students on rotation, is working for a breakthrough.
