Collaboration

Our strength is work that joins cells, model animals and human postmortem brain on aging, age-related disease and neurodegeneration. We collaborate with academic and industry partners, especially on aging, age-related disease, intractable neurological disease and developmental conditions.

Models and techniques we can share

Collaboration is not limited to the following, but we can offer this support.

  1. Breeding and experimental support for African killifish (Nothobranchius furzeri / turquoise killifish), studied here since 2012. We were among the first in Japan to breed them stably, and have provided eggs and training in husbandry and experimental methods to the Ishitani laboratory (which moved from Gunma University to Osaka University), Kyoto, Oklahoma, Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Tsukuba. Husbandry is specialized. When you are setting this up, we show you the actual husbandry in the laboratory and explain the technique. CRISPR-Cas9 is applicable.
  2. We have also succeeded in breeding giant danio. It takes some skill. What you use them for we leave to your imagination.
  3. Zebrafish and medaka are used in many labs; please contact us individually.
