Open campus
I spoke at open campus. I am glad when younger people try to change the world with heat, whether in research, clinic, or something else. Heat matters; with it you can join Niigata labs, including ours, even from the first year. Undergraduates have classes, so use long holidays to learn technique, then experiment at your own pace after class.
“I can do anything” is often equal to “I can do nothing.” In competitive research you need something to sell. Family first is usually obvious; then you need a ranking of research, clinic, hobbies, clubs, jobs, and usually you must give something up. What you want matters, and so does judging your fit while you are a student. Grow your strength and use it. This lab welcomes such people who want to be scientists.
