BRI scientists visit Shibata HS for SSH talks

On August 30, 2019, two BRI scientists, Drs Takayasu Mikuni (Professor of Cellular Neuropathology) and Nobuyuki Takei (Associate Professor of Molecular Neurobiology) visited Shibata High School, one of the Super Science High Schools (SSH) designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), to give lectures on neuroscience.

SSH is designed to have a more science-focused curriculum aimed at producing students who are better prepared for a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Drs Mikuni and Takei gave their respective 90 mins talks to 40 first-year students of the science and mathematics course.

We hope that learning about basics of neuroscience will inspire interest in life science and medicine. We also hope that learning about BRI and career after medical school will help shaping future career choices.

It was our pleasure to give lectures to the students at Shibata HS.
